Gymnast to Cheerleader - GeeTramp Trampoline Ambassador Sarah’s story
I'm Sarah and I am a 16-year-old cheerleader from Melbourne, Australia.
Gymnastics at the beginning
I first started out my flipping and tumbling journey doing gymnastics. After a couple of years, I decided to stop doing classes and teach myself most of the skills I have today.
What I enjoyed most about being a gymnast was practising my routines on the spring floor.
My First Trampoline
I also enjoyed being able to flip on a trampoline because I wasn't afraid I might injure myself. It was hard for me to extend my abilities due to my old trampoline being quite small and not having much bounce to it.
Instagram connections
In 2016, I first started my Instagram account where I posted daily videos of myself doing flips, but I wanted to improve my skills. I was inspired by cheerleaders all over social media and eventually brought up the conversation with my parents about starting cheerleading, which I started in 2017.
Seeking sponsorships
I came across @webandwarehouse through friends of mine. Web And Warehouse is a company that specialises in various types of trampolines aka brand GeeTramp. On social media, I saw boys and girls of my age go to meetups that Julie and Andrew (the owners of the company) held in their Geelong location and I wanted to join in on some of the fun myself! The opportunity to meet new people with similar interests and test out all different sized and shaped trampolines seemed exciting to me.
Becoming a brand ambassador
- I reached out to Julie via Instagram in early April of this year (2018) expressing my interest in their company. My family and I drove to Geelong for the day and I met Julie and Andrew. I was able to test out what trampoline best suited me and I was keen to have one of my own.
- I decided to wait and try my luck at becoming an ambassador.
- I was nominated for the new Australian ambassador program by many of my Instagram followers. (To all my followers who nominated me and messaged Julie with kind words about me "thank you"
- After a couple of days, I was announced as one of the first @geetramp ambassadors.
- This came as a huge surprise to me and I was beyond happy to be promoting these amazing products.
- My 9x14ft GeeTramp Rectangle trampoline with High bounce mat came within 1-2 days which was incredibly fast.
First impression of GeeTramp Trampoline
I remember my first reaction stepping foot on my new trampoline and screaming and jumping with joy - it was seriously a dream come true!
Jumping on the trampoline has become a nightly addiction for me. I go outside after school for hours practising tons of tricks and learning things I had always been afraid to try on my old trampoline. Trying to use on my old 8ft round trampoline was a struggle and it was a tremendous upgrade for me which I honestly needed and am grateful for.
Being an ambassador
- Working with this company has been such a happy and pleasant experience. I get treated like a friend and am encouraged to give my honest opinions.
