Trampoline Spare Parts Glossary

Trampoline - Pads, mat, springs What are the correct names for each trampoline part?

Trampoline Terms.

This topic is one dear to my heart right now as I am in China working with our factory while trying to source other materials from other Chinese companies for our trampolines.

It can be frustrating to be talking about an item then to find out we are talking about 2 different parts although we both are calling it the same thing.

This often happens in Australia too when a customer phones up and asks for a trampoline by a name familiar but not specifically identifying the part they are after. We normally ask a few questions to validate and ensure that we are both talking about the same part.

It is worse for a customer when they blindly order on the website without taking the time to read or look at photos and find themselves with the wrong trampoline part.

Here we will demystify the trampoline parts and common names for you with a link beside it for you to learn more about the part and its peculiarities you'll need to check before ordering.

Trampoline Net, Safety Enclosure, - This is the netting structure erected on poles around the trampoline and secured to the trampoline legs, with an access point at an edge through a zip or overlap entry. There are other things to note to ensure you order the correct net other than just the size of your trampoline so don’t rush through the buying stage just yet. What to know before ordering a net

Trampoline Mat, Trampoline Bed, Mat, Jumping mat, netting – Simply stated; this is the part that the users actually bounce on for height. It’s attached to the frame by springs and most commonly black. Each customer needs to accurately measure their trampoline before purchasing from an alternate supplier than where they originally purchased. This is the hardest trampoline part to match across brands. Best bought from your original supplier; if possible. If not use our round trampoline mat calculator to see if we have one to fit.and for further things to know before ordering a new mat online check out the blog articles here

Trampoline padding, trampoline matting Spring Cover padding -This is the padding – PVC covered foam that sits at the edge of the trampoline and covers the springs to keep fingers and hair out of the way of pinching. It is also of a good purpose to protect the mat stitching and spring webbing from premature effects of UV exposure. Link here to know what to look for when comparing brands and how to maintain and retrofit if you have an odd but smaller size trampoline.

Trampoline Skirt, lower trampoline netting, trampoline net Trampoline safety skirt - this part is made of the same netting material as the actual trampoline net but is for the lower part of the trampoline – it goes around the outside of the legs on the trampoline and attaches to the frame by ties or bungees. The idea of the skirt is to prevent toddlers from wandering under a trampoline while older and heavier kids are jumping to prevent them from weighing down on the toddlers head, neck and shoulders. They also can finish the trampoline off to look tidy but can be annoying when it is time to mow.

Springs – Springs are springs, right? Not quite. They are though the attachment from the frame to the hooks on the mat. Accurate measuring is required from end to end to check that the diameter is the same – if bigger, the spring is softer and even though the same length the larger diameter will stretch more and not suit your current trampoline and mat. The difference between full quality galvanised spring and the same size and diameter Chinese made spring is significant to a trampoline user We have 18 different spring lengths and diameters for you to choose from

Ladder, Steps – an Access point to the trampoline. The one thing to look out for when ordering is to first check the height of your frame from the ground then order a ladder that is at least 10cm longer than the height of your trampoline. How to measure a trampoline for a ladder

With these terms sorted you can order with greater confidence but just be sure you do order the corresponding size to match your trampoline. If we can clarify anything further for you please either email  or phone us on 03 52921100
