How to Choose the Right Size Trampoline

How To Choose The Right Size Trampoline Online:

What size trampoline is right for your family and your backyard?

Varying sized trampolines are for; different spaces, family size, factoring in individuals ages, and weight. Here we will outline the different sizes we offer and when and where they are the best choice for you to make a more informed choice before purchasing.

We have observed young children who casually jump with friends or wrestle on the trampoline are suited to a round trampoline. As they grow into sports like trampolining, parkour, any board sports etc. there is a high preference to the Medium and Large rectangle trampolines for space and bounce.

Children who enjoy, dance, and gymnastic or cheer routines have a tendency to prefer a rectangle over a round trampoline – as having a corner and linear space is important.

Rectangle Trampolines

7x10ft Rectangle Trampoline (Small)

A very nice small rectangle trampoline, ideal to pop in between the cubby house and swing set or garden shed. These sized trampolines are nice and compact and have a similar application as to the round 8 or 10ft trampolines. Due to the smaller size, a one child at a time rule should apply.

Can be built into the ground easily.

8x12ft Rectangle Trampoline (Medium)

Great trampoline with very good bounce and space for kids up to 12/13 years of age. If they are into gymnastics this is the most common trampoline for juniors to be using to practice their routines on.

A better bounce is common on a rectangle trampoline where the bounce is generated by activating the springs at the width compared to say a round trampoline where all springs need to be activated to generate bounce.

This trampoline is ideal to be tucked into a corner or as an in-ground trampoline.

9x14ft Rectangle Trampoline (Large)

This trampoline was designed and made for kids that do gymnastics but find the 8x12ft rectangle trampoline a little too short to round out their flips, and therefore landing on the pads instead of the trampoline mat. The extra two foot makes a significant difference without compromising on the bounce.

This trampoline has ample room for two kids in to their teens. This trampoline is a much stronger design than the other two smaller rectangle trampolines, having a much thicker frame tubing and pads.  A nice size to install inground.

10x17ft Olympic Size Rectangle Trampoline (X-Large)

You do need a big back yard for this one and it is really not suitable for toddlers unless you are really aware that they will not get a good bounce out of this until they are 8/9 years old. It is better suited to older kids. If compared to a true gymnastics trampoline that has a 2 string woven mat then this trampoline isn’t quite as bouncy. Kids would need about 65-70kg to get the height to do a double somersault on the standard mat.

We would recommend this size for most families to order it with high bounce option. If height and bounce with lots of space is really what the kids are after, then you will get great value from also opting for the Australia Galvanized springs.

This is an excellent trampoline for general family use. A heavy duty frame makes this a long term backyard investment.  A true Olympic Size make for a backyard statement in ground too.

14x16ft Rectangle Trampoline  (XX-Large)

An almost square trampoline the 14x16ft is a great size to make a big statement. We had four teenagers and this trampoline took over our backyard. It was a well-used trampoline even though the kids were ages 15 to 19+. It is a great space for soccer, wrestling and for a good old game of jumping tag.

This trampoline can be a neighbourhood magnet, so be prepared to have extra kids jumping over the fence to have a bounce too!  Well over 200kg this trampoline is not easily moved to mow under – drop the mower handles and under you go. ?Again it has a quality thick and robust frame for long term enjoyment.

This is the trampoline of choice for a number of cheerleading kids. Ideal for tumbling and  practising techniques that are ultimately to be used directly on the floor once they are confident.

This trampoline also has the option of High Bounce and Australian Galvanized springs. Inground Installation is possible.

Round Trampolines

8ft (Small) & 10ft Round Trampolines (Medium)

If you are looking to buy the kids a trampoline but don’t have a large area, then an 8ft or 10ft trampoline is probably the best choice for you. These smaller trampolines are perfect for a small backyard/courtyard or families with smaller children.

Remember though you should only ever have one child on an 8 ft or 10 ft trampoline at a time. In such a small space it is probable that they will jump into each another and could hurt each other. The 8ft trampoline is also lower to the ground so weight is also an issue, so just check that before your final decision. If you have the room and can afford to go with a 10ft over an 8ft then do this, as a 10ft is a better long term choice.

An 8ft trampoline is better than no trampoline and even more important if you do only have a small yard.

12ft Round Trampolines (Large)

Perfect for most families with two kids who can be on it together or older kids one at a time.

A 12ft is 3.6m so they don't take up too much space but you can safely have larger children or adults bouncing on them. This size does have the broadest age range appeal.

If you can only afford space or budget for a round trampoline then this is the most suited size for kids who do want to try and flip as well.

14ft & 15ft Round Trampolines (X-Large)

These bigger trampolines, “Entertainers” as we call them are the social, family trampoline of trampolines.  They are by sheer size safer, more fun and you can fit more than one child/person on at a time

If you have a large family or your kids are all 10 and up; then this is potentially the trampoline for you. These sizes are great value if your kids are sociable and have friends over regularly as its a trampoline that will entertain them for hours on end.

If only one child is to use the trampoline and they are trying to do flips you may find the 12ft would be better.

We no longer sell 15ft trampolines but do continue to support past customers with spare parts.

Be sure to instil trampoline safety considerations as a priority into your kids regardless of the size trampoline you decide to purchase. Making sure that you teach your kids how to play safely on a trampoline as this will reduce their chances of injuries.
