Girls gymnastic trampoline choices
Why we are best informed to help you decide
Round or Rectangle Trampoline?
- The first choice you need to make is whether you should get a round or rectangle trampoline.
- Generally speaking, girls tend to go for the rectangle ones. It gives a more consistent bounce on the whole surface and requires less strength to achieve a higher bounce.
- Girls, in particular, tend to prefer rectangles for the shape, corners and the natural way the shape lends itself to linear dance/gymnastic movements.
Deciding on which Rectangle Trampoline?
8x12 ft Trampoline
- If your daughter is very young and just starting out, an 8X12 ft trampoline will be enough for them to practice their bouncing, especially while he/she is still not overly heavy.
- Kids tend to start extending their flips pre-teen and often land on pads and not mat. This can be a problem for their ankles. If they do a very neat tuck flip then this trampoline can last well through teens.
9x14 ft Trampoline
- If you have two kids that are going to use the same trampoline or if you want a trampoline that can support a high bounce for all weights and ages, then choose a 9X14 ft trampoline. It has a delightful bounce and extra mat length for rounding out the flips.
- If kids are after height more than space they will love this one all the way through to adult ages.
- It has a responsive bounce that is easy to stay bouncing without too much input of energy from the user.
- We have a high bounce mat option now which gives approx 15-20% better bounce (please note it is not a 2 string mat)
- Very strong frame and upper net frame as well.
9x14ft - GeeTramp StringPro Trampoline
- This trampoline comes with a handwoven string mat
- Amazing bounce the more skill you have the better it is.
- Designed for inground as there are no nets
- Super strong robust frame
- Same design as a true Olympic Trampoline
- ideal for a professional gymnast/trampoline/circus performer to have at home
- does require a little more maintenance to ensure longevity
10x17 ft Trampoline (Olympic Size)
- If she is older and needs a lot of space to practice and a good bounce, then go for a 10X17 ft trampoline.
- Often with this choice, there is a trade-off for less height than the 9x14 ft but more space.
- They are keen and happy to invest extra energy for space.
- We have a High bounce mat option now too which give approx 10-15% better bounce (it is not a 2 string mat though).
- Often the families that choose this size do both gymnastics/dance and cheerleading. So it is a compromise that works.
14x16 ft Huge Trampoline
- This is a big trampoline, it is a heavier bounce and achieving height is harder.
- Some skilled gymnasts can really get some beautiful height due to their well-developed leg muscles.
- Generally speaking, less height is achieved on this one.
- This trampoline is better to tumble and round out routines. It can be difficult to achieve double flips.
- This size is ideal though if your daughter wants to practice her cheerleading routines with her friends, then you need a trampoline as big as possible and a 14X16 ft is a good size and shape for this type of training.
- It allows the cheerleading group to do their flips and tumbling safely without hurting each other. Although up to the parents if so many are to be on it together - but great bouncing when there are a number of kids bouncing together!
