What to know when buying trampoline replacement parts

| 5 minutes read | Written by Julie

Trampoline replacement parts

When you buy a trampoline, you rarely think of the maintenance required in the future. In order to keep your trampoline in top shape, you will need to regularly check and replace certain parts in the event of any damage from wear and tear or weather. Repairing or replacing the damaged or missing parts quickly can save the rest of your trampoline from then deteriorating in an unreasonable time. Replacement parts cost much less than a new trampoline!
There are, however, a few things to be aware of before making a purchase. We want to make sure you know what to buy and how to buy the correct trampoline parts for your trampoline.

  • One of the most important parts of the trampoline is, of course, the jumping mat. If your mat has tears or holes or if you feel that it has been damaged by years of exposure to harsh sunlight, it's time for a new one.
  • Before buying a new mat you need to take accurate measurements.
  • Not all manufacturers follow the same specifications, which means that a 12 ft round trampoline might range from a bit less than 12 ft to 12 ft 6 inches.
  • Buying the replacement parts from the manufacturer that you originally bought your trampoline from is the best way to know it will fit.
  • Quality round trampoline mats and rectangle mats can be found here.
  • We have a trampoline replacement mat calculator (only suitable for round trampolines) that will take the stress out of ordering and give you confidence in the trampoline mat you are ordering will fit your trampoline.
  • You can find out more about measuring and ordering trampoline mats here - Trampoline Mat Calculator.
  • Do note there is only a tolerance of 25mm between your original mat and any others you replace it with.
  • You can see here to the left photos of our range of 7 different 15 ft trampoline mats of varying size and spring quantity
  • If you are ordering a new trampoline mat, it is wise to order a few springs at the same time, you may find when replacing the mat a few are over sprung or worn. They can also get lost and the trampoline should never be used when springs are missing! A mat must always be 100% secured to the frame.

Replacing trampoline safety net (safety enclosure)

  • Safety nets are another part that often needs replacement.
  • If your first net tore or deteriorate, be sure to seek out one that is more durable, and has UV protection in order to prevent excessive sun damage in a short period of time.
  • Make sure to check if your trampoline has the net installed inside or outside the padding and the number of poles you have on your trampoline.
  • If you look to the left you will see our range of 3 different nets for our 15 ft trampolines.

Trampoline ladders for access

  • A trampoline ladder is also important to have. Even if your children are older and can get onto the trampoline by themselves, this is not a safe practice.
  • A ladder helps young children access the trampoline mat safely and on the other hand, by removing it, you limit their access to the trampoline so they cannot play unsupervised and get hurt.
  • Make sure to measure the height of your trampoline correctly when choosing a ladder as these too come in various lengths and have different ways of attaching onto the trampoline.
  • A general rule is to allow for the ladder to be 10-15 cm longer than the height of the trampoline frame.

Renewing trampoline padding (spring covers)

The frame spring cover padding is another part of the trampoline that you need to keep in the best possible shape. Padding with tears or deformed padding does not offer sufficient protection.

  • Measure your trampoline and buy new padding that fits well.
  • Check they are water and mildew resistant (our padding has drain holes on the underside) and is resistant to sun damage and won't lose its shape.
  • Check they are top stitched for extra strength at the seams.
  • The Australian climate is harsh and the UV is intense for this reason check the grade of the PVC when looking for new pads.
  • You would want a minimum of 0.5 mm thick for any reasonable durability of the PVC (ours are high UV protection at 0.55 mm thick).

Most important criteria for all trampoline parts

The number one thing that you need to do when choosing replacement parts for your trampoline is to measure correctly and keep in mind that different companies follow different specifications and their trampolines vary in size. Replacement parts that fit properly are crucial for the proper maintenance and safety of your trampoline.
