Why Kids Are Getting Into Ninja Warrior Climbing Equipment
There has been a rise in kids interest and participation in climbing through, indoor rock climbing and indoor play venues, documentaries on mountain climbing, Cross Fit gyms and Cross Fit games, together with TV shows like Ninja Warrior and Outdoor Reality Challenge shows.
All of which has been further spurned by the 2020/2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics when rock climbing was introduced for the first time as a sport.
Ninja Warriors
Ninja Warrior has brought climbing to the forefront of kids minds where they can challenge their parents to allow them to climb more. Kids know their parents; and for many parents, all they see of climbing activities are the risks and then actively discourage their kids from participating.
Ninja Warrior on TV, feeds a public fascination with difficult feats of physical strength and skills while giving kids healthy heroes to look up to and cheer on.
For families watching Ninja Warrior together. they have not only recognized a lot of skills that are physical, but also seeing strong character traits like patience, resilience, and fortitude in action. Listening to the athletes when interviewed; almost all of them mention developing a tough mental mindset; an asset for life when used correctly.
Tokyo Olympics 2020/2021
Introduction of Rock climbing as a competing sport in the Olympics raised the sports profile significantly globally. The event format albeit controversial to those at the pulse of the sport. The one event combined three very different disciplines of rock climbing – lead climbing, speed climbing and bouldering.
- Speed climbing is a 50-meter vertical wall climbed at speed e.g., well under 10 seconds
- Bouldering is a challenging short obstacle of angles and holds on a wall without ropes.
- Lead climbing is a climb up a wall with obstacles and challenges while secured with rope but only from the closest strong hold as the lead climber is the one who on the way secures the line to the wall.
So you might understand how the controversy was raised by how very different each style is and as my own comparison equivalent to bundling the results of a 100m sprint, hurdles and a 5km run scored as one event!
