The Vuly Deck – A Must-Have Trampoline Accessory

If you’ve never heard of a Vuly deck, we’re here to explain what it is, why you should have one, and what you need to know to use it safely.

What is a Vuly Deck?

The Vuly deck is basically a neatly covered skateboard but without the wheels! The material covering the board may feel like that of a wetsuit but is made of high-quality EVA foam. It is lightweight and soft and about the same size as a standard skateboard.

What is a Vuly deck for?

  1. The Vuly Deck is becoming a must-have accessory for young kids to use on their trampoline.
  2. It is a safe and fun way to start to learn the basic tricks to skateboarding.

Why use a Vuly Deck?

Put simply, the Vuly Deck is becoming a must-have accessory for young kids to add to their trampoline as it’s an extremely fun and safe way to learn the basic tricks of skateboarding without the need for a helmet or safety pads. The resistance provided by the deck simulates the feel and motion of being on a board but in an extremely safe environment. Using a Vuly deck will not only increase your heart rate but will help to improve coordination and balance too.

So, whether you’re always looking for new ways to use your trampoline or you want to take your skateboarding to the next level, it’s a great investment – especially for kids that don’t have access to concrete at home to practice their tricks or for anyone who wants to learn tricks safely.

The Basics You’ll Need to Know Before You Use your Vuly Deck

If you’re a complete novice to the skating scene, you’re going to need a lot of practice to master the basic techniques. But never fear, with time you’ll soon be performing like a pro. Fortunately, with a Vuly Deck, you won’t have to worry about grazes and broken bones from falling on concrete. Your deck will enable you to practice safely on your trampoline  – which is much more fun all round!

However, before you start on those tricks, there are a few things you need to know to make your journey a little easier.

The Right Foot Positioning

To successfully perform tricks on your deck, you must adopt the correct foot positioning and it’s especially important to stop you from landing awkwardly. Whether you’re right-footed or left-footed you must always position one foot at the front end and the other foot at the back end of the board to ensure that you are balanced. Positioning your feet sideways across the board before attempting any trick, will ensure optimum stability.

But how do you know which foot is dominant?

It’s easy to find out. Simply stand in a neutral position, feet about shoulder-width apart and then lean forwards. The foot that jumps out first to stop you from falling is your dominant or ‘riding’ foot. This is the foot you should use to push yourself along and for most tricks, you should position it at the back of your board.

The Correct Stance

There’s more to standing on a skateboard than just the positioning of your feet, you’ve got to master the correct stance too. Mastering the correct way to stand on your Vuly deck goes a long way to being able to successfully perform tricks. So practice standing with your knees slightly bent, your back straight and pull in your core while doing so. Your core comprises all those muscles in your abdomen, lower back, hips and glutes that protect your spine and to have good balance, you must work on strengthening your core. You’ll also need to push all the weight of your body into your feet to keep you firm on the board.

Footwear

While we wouldn’t suggest that you wear footwear on your trampoline – in fact, you should never wear shoes on the mat - when skateboarding you really do need a good pair of sneakers or dedicated skate shoes to stop your feet from landing awkwardly when performing tricks. When practising on your Vuly deck, opt for a pair of trampoline socks instead of shoes. They’ll give you the grip you need to stay on the board.

A Safe Way to Learn Board Tricks

The Vuly deck provides a safe and fun way to learn skateboard and snowboard tricks without the need for concrete or snow! So put your best foot forward (or should that be back) and try out a Vuly deck. We know you’re going to become obsessed!
