Although a month has already passed since the first ever Gtgames ANZ held in Auckland New Zealand it is well overdue for us to give our feedback on the weekend. There were many special moments of meetings, skills gained, personal milestones, displays of sportsmanship, and courage to name a few, There have been plenty of Instagram posts recently and there will be more to come along with YouTube videos too to look out for.

GtGames Motivator and Sponsors

The GTgames was hosted by Greg Roe a national trampoline title winner from Canada. He is the motivator wanting to see the Gtramp community grow, and be recognized for their skills while also bringing safety awareness to the attention of all. Skybound trampolines America are the GTGames the major global sponsor and Gtramp safety campaigners and at great expense shipped in two of their trampolines for the event, they had a very high profile with their signage. Jump NZ trampoline parks who through their classes and genuine interest in Gtramp kids actively co-ordinated the event along with several very organized Gtramp mums.

GeeTramp Trampolines

GeeTramp was invited as the main trampoline supplier by nominations and requests from the Gtramp community. Many of the kids from both Australia and New Zealand participating own and train on or are familiar with the bounce so it was also a safe choice for their awareness to have a range of GeeTramp Trampolines available for use.

Our supply of GeeTramp branded trampolines is in Auckland, New Zealand so we just had to get ourselves there from Australia and then deliver the GeeTramp trampolines to Takapuna Beach just north of Auckland. GeeTramp had two 10x17ft, a 9x14ft, the much asked for whopper 14x16ft (all had the high bounce mat and three had New Zealand springs as well)  the GeeTramp mini was also out and available for use throughout the weekend.

With the help of all the athletes and some wonderful parents we had all the trampolines up and assembled in the time that it normally takes 2 people to put up one 10x17ft trampoline. So many hands really did make light work. Once the trampolines, signage, tents were up it was time to register and then get jumping and flipping.

The Athletes

It was an epic weekend and we are so glad we were there to witness Aussies and New Zealand Gtrampers meeting each other after being, long time social media friends. Observing the supreme sportsmanship on display was the reminder of why all the sponsors do what they do to support these kids. I doubt anyone watching not associated would have realized there was a competition going on, while each competitor was cheering each other on so genuinely in the name of seeing their sport Gtramp progressing and seeing what is possible, rather than focussing on their own chance of a win.

The Gtgames event brought together Aussie kids from 4 states – Tasmania, Queensland, Victoria, and New South Wales. A very big thank you must go to each of those boys families for such short notice of the event to do all within their families power to get their son on a plane to New Zealand.

New Zealand based families were just as dedicated with many taking long drives or flying in from the south island.

A world first at GtGamesANZ

A highlight for Greg Roe after having hosted Gtramp meetups around the world for over a year was to meet the first-ever female Gtramp participant. @maci_flips she showed wonderful courage, was humbled in having only become a Gtramper months earlier when she submitted her entry and wasn’t confident she would get in. Maci got in completely on her own skills and merit.

Greg spoke most highly of her publicly numerous times and congratulated her on being the first ever female Gtramp GTgames competitor and that no one will ever be able to take that global title away from her. Well done Maci.

Together all sponsors and organizers, we hope Maci’s participation and success will encourage more girls to enter and hopefully be able to participate. It will be wonderful to see the growth in female participation.

About the Judges

Attending the weekend were 4 well known and respected athletes as inspiration, judges, and trainers.

@domitrick - Wildly famous in the tricking and tumbling community with a whopping 230k followers on Instagram. Dom is about sharing his skills, (which are crazy) and is a well-respected coach in the area of tricking. Follow him to know what he is about.

@colbyivorson_ - What a nice young guy. Self taught American Gtramper and winner of the first-ever Gtgames. I have a video interview to put up of him shortly too. So keep an eye out for that.

@nato_fsu  - Melbourne based tumbler, likes to do some extreme things on the edge of anything! Great guy, we hope he will drop in on us one day or join us for one of our Geelong meetups this year.

@robarcherdavis - Rob has been a keen gtramper for years and coach at JumpNZ trampoline parks - He is very active in growing gtramp as a sport in New Zealand and spreading awareness through marketing.

Footnote from Greg Roe

The Freestyle Trampoline Association kicked off 2019 with the GTGamesANZ held in Takapuna Beach, New Zealand near Auckland. With 43 gtramp (garden trampoline) athletes competing for top prizes and for fun, the event was one of the best so far. The community rallied together to help create this unique event, especially the parents. We want to thank all our volunteers and also our partners and sponsors who made all this possible:

Skybound Trampolines & GeeTramp

JUMP NZ - Gravitated Equations - BigBenPies - NorthBeachNZ - LoveJuicies - Bandit Eyewear - GettaGripp

“The ANZ GTramp community did an outstanding job bringing this event to New Zealand and we couldn't be prouder of all the athletes"

Greg Roe

Announcing GTgames 2020

Next years #GtgamesANZ2020 event has already been pre-scheduled in New Zealand. (A new article will go up about that in the coming weeks)

Invited Participants

Although the below list of Gtrampers was successful in their entry to compete in the GtgamesANZ2019 not all were able to attend. With our respect to their skills and our congratulations, we include them in the original list of competitors for the first ever Australian and New Zealand Gtramp Games. This recognition of being in the top 50 in both countries is a credit to each athlete their dedication to their training and also to their filming and editing skills."If it wasn't caught on camera it didn't happen" is often quoted; so keep your cameras on and keep training and we hope to see you in 2020.

With more notice this year we hope more of you will have time to save and prepare for what will be a bigger GtgamesANZ in 2020 - Good Luck.
