9x14ft Trampoline guide to the best mat and spring combination for your family
Trying to decide between the different mat and spring options of the 9x14ft trampoline? This article and video below will help you.
Researching and finding a place with all the information about trampolines laid out is hard and we are aiming to deliver just that. Impartial accurate open and honest information we have learned through feedback and observation of thousands of kids through our warehouse trampoline display. All is, easy and good if you can come into the Geelong warehouse display, meet us and experience the trampolines first hand but when you can't we are working harder to deliver the information in a way to give you confidence the trampoline you are ordering online with us will be the right trampoline.
- We invited some local kids to come to the warehouse to jump and be filmed one winters day to give us some totally authentic feedback. Just to honestly tell us how the trampolines felt to them and what they did or didn’t like about the bounce, and to mention who they felt it would suit and why.
- We know from years of experience you cannot blanket sell trampolines as many do “the biggest and most expensive is best”; as it rarely is. Sadly, though too many trampoline salespeople still sell this way.
- When asking for a trampoline or using one the truth is most kids are after a nice easy bounce and with relative height. A Good bounce enables kids to jump for longer, easily before fatiguing, ideally getting a height that they can be happy to feel safe to try new tricks.
- It is easy to know which trampoline is the right one for kids – they can’t help but smile when they’re on the trampoline with the right bounce for them. We see it all the time.
- With this article and video, we are aiming to help you to choose the right trampoline for your family and to know which one of the 9x14ft will be right for them and will be the one to deliver “the smile”
- 9x14ft is a very popular trampoline with kids to teens. We have sold these to lots of adults including grandparents our oldest was in his 70s and a yoga instructor. So, it has a very broad age range appeal. It will just come down to deciding on the mat and spring combination for your family.
The standard mat is pretty good and when we didn’t have the high bounce mat option it was deemed a bouncy trampoline and gymnasts loved it, and kids to adults. It was my personal favorite.
Then we got the high bounce mat – it is a slightly different weave to the mat, and it allows better airflow through the mat and therefore with less air resistance kids can bounce with less effort and get greater height on average about 20-25% better. This is now a hand’s down my favorite of our trampolines, and for the record, I am 50yo and 65kg.
High bounce with Australian Galvanized springs. Final enhancement to this trampoline was designed for the very lightweight kids. The kids 45kg and under get the best benefit but up to my weight, the benefit is noticeable. The springs are made of more responsive steel so react to a lighter weight than the Chinese springs. At our display with 20 trampolines, this is the one trampoline the young kids will wait in line to use! Just a note of caution if your light weights kids are cheerleaders or train gymnastics on the floor, I would suggest going with just the high bounce mat and not the upgrade of springs as they can then get much height and lose their awareness for the spring floor.
Black Edition - We didn't discuss this at all as the Black Edition just means the frame is powder coated. Purely an aesthetic thing that doesn't impact the kids at all - more about co-ordinating aesthetically in the garden. It does look great and does finish off the trampoline very nicely.
Inground 9x14ft is another option available - the trampoline comes with the trampoline legs included, jumping mat and padding but no netting or ladder. Having the legs attached for the inground trampoline is important due to the frame structure and the design for the bounce. Some people still choose to use the inground trampoline above ground. Just be aware Australian Standards doesn't cover inground trampolines as all trampolines sold within Australia and meet Australian standards must have a safety net.
Watch the video below and compare what they are doing with what your kids do and their sizes. I'm happy to see any kids have this trampoline as it really does suit 90% very well.
Unscripted genuine trampoline feedback from kids and teens
Kaylah and Georgia are up first they are both around 14 years old and cheerleaders with Cheer Geelong, Georgia has also been a gymnast. Georgia has a 14ft round trampoline at home.
Kaylah says about the 9x14ft with high bounce mat - I really like this one if I was to get one, I would get this one because it's a good price and it's very bouncy
Georgia adds - and ideal for gymnasts; I was a gymnast in the past and I find this one's really good for technique so, in the air, I feel like once you bounce, you get heaps of height in the air which I feel, I could squeeze more and focus on my form, and it's not too small. I can fit in most of my skills. I would do on my circle trampoline.
Dakoda is 15 and he has a 9x14ft trampoline at home with the high bounce mat.
Definitely one of my favorite trampolines that you have here. Perfect for my size and my style of tricks and what I like to do.
Sarah is one of our 9x14ft ambassadors from Melbourne and when she heard we were doing the video day she offered to travel down to participate. Sarah is 16 and quite tall - 5 ft 11.
Sarah is very enthusiastic about this trampoline and is genuine when she says - I love that one. It's not too big, not too small and doesn't take up too much space, but the high bounce mat gives a lot of height and perfect for me being tall.
With Matt and Phillip, we move over to the 9x14ft with standard mat. Matt does have the 9x14ft with high bounce mat at home.
Philip says - "A good trampoline for any backyard. If you’re a beginner or are already decent I'd get this"
Matt adds - "I'd personally recommend a high bounce mat,"
That is what he does have at home and is used to.
Inside the warehouse out of the cold,
Lilia has been on the 9x14ft with high bounce mat and Australian Gal springs. At home, Lilia has the 8x12ft with the standard mat.
I ask her, did you notice any differences with it?
Yes, I prefer it to the 8x12ft it's bigger, it’s got a bit more length.
This one has the Australian gal Springs on it as well so I’m noticing the bounce difference it’s a bit more responsive
Staying on the 9x14ft with the Au Gal spring and high bounce mat I’m back chatting with Phil and Matt.
Matt comes clean – “I'm a bit biased because I have it in my backyard, but it's really good. I personally like it and can do my tricks; you've got space and can jump around, and you get good height
Phil then backs him up and say - I like it - it's small and compact but loads of bounce, if you've got a big or small backyard it fits. Yeah, and I'd recommend the high bounce mat personally.
I just want to clarify and get his response to the Aussie Springs - So how did you notice the difference with the gal springs?
Phil says – “Well, I got a lot higher, and better rotation, and it was more enjoyable”
We did a full series of these videos the 7x10ft 8x12ft 9x14ft 10x17ft and 14x16ft – it was a full-on day, but the kids were great and gave a lot of valuable insight.
