How to install an in ground trampoline - 3 ways
Save your view and buy an inground trampoline
- Access to the trampoline is easy
- The trampoline won't block any view from the house or garden
- It blends in with the landscape design of the yard
- It makes it harder for the trampoline to suffer wind damage
- Make sure to check with your local authorities if a permit is needed for such an installation. This can save you from a lot of trouble down the road!
In-ground installation can happen in different ways, let's have a look at the three most popular ones
1 Frame mounted on top of a retaining wall:
- The trampoline will be secured to one place
- The retaining walls need to be strong enough to bear the load of jumping kids and adults and it takes some planning to design a proper ventilation and drainage system for the cavity underneath the trampoline
- You will have less bounce as there is minimal space for the air to escape.
2 Trampoline on a “hill”
- In this case, you buy a regular in ground round or rectangle in-ground trampoline.
- Install it over the ground and build a retaining wall around it.
- Then you transport dirt to cover the wall and form a hill that will blend into the landscaping of your yard.
- This structure is easier to equip with drainage and ventilation.
- You still need to move a lot of dirt and build a strong wall.
3 Trampoline in a hole
- You can simply dig a hole in the ground build a retaining wall and install the trampoline in it.
- You are best to have sought the advice of a local landscape gardener on what best drainage means is suited to your soil.
- In some cases, you may only need a few inches of screenings on the bottom of the hole and in other cases proper drainage systems out in place.
- We strongly recommend you allow some clearance of the frame sitting above the retaining wall as a means of ventilation to ensure the air escapes so the trampoline will have a nice bounce.
