We have been selling GeeTramp Trampolines throughout Australia for almost 15 years and NZ for 5 years. A lot of our customers are near the coast so do have varying degrees of exposure to salt air and a lot of coastal customers recommending a GeeTramp for the coast to their neighbours and friends.
Main frame pieces
These have a galvanized finish which is pretty good for long term protection also the option of powder coated galvanised frames - Black Editions .
We have had very little recorded of problems regarding rust to the main frame components, we don’t assume that there isn’t any affects from corrosion but it’s a good sign that our customers are getting good value though. A tip when comparing trampolines for near the coast look for a brand with thick steel and large diameter of tube. The thicker the frame the longer it takes for rust to erode it. The frames on the GeeTramp Trampolines are 2 and 2.5mm thick (pending size) and diameter of the tube 50-60mm (pending size)
A good guide is when customers are happy to order new parts after 10+ years in coastal areas which does happen a lot.
Springs
Depends what size trampoline you are contemplating:
- all our trampolines have the gold finish spring option.
- for the larger 3 rectangle size trampolines we also have the galvanised finish as an option (9x14ft & 10x17ft 14x16ft)
- The gold finished springs would develop surface rust a lot earlier than the galvanised springs.
- The galvanised springs are made in Australia and New Zealand and have longer protection (same as fence wiring)
There are 2 ways to handle the extra corrosive environment,
- pay a bit more up front so there is less ongoing maintenance
- or replace the items more regularly.
The tradeoff for the gold springs not lasting as last as long as the galvanised springs is that they are cheaper, either way would probably be similar costs over the lifetime of the trampoline though.
The Mat Triangles
- These have the same finish as the gold springs, these would probably be the quickest item to be affected by rust.
- This is because moisture can get trapped in between the black hoop and the steel triangle.
- We have looked at doing these triangles in marine grade 316 stainless steel however the cost was 5 times higher so it’s a lot cheaper to change out the mat instead.
- One way to minimise this is to squirt some oil into these hoops from time to time to minimise moisture getting in there, this is pretty simple to do if you can remember (they are out of sight and mind).
If the odd triangle rusted out it can be replaced in situ however if many rusted out then it’s easier to change out the mat.

Beach side salt air general comment
As you would have experienced being so close to the beach, most things don't last as well close to the beach with lots of salt in the air compared to being well inland.
It’s a cost of living close to sea, either paying for marine grade materials up front or replacing standard materials more regularly.
We feel our components are a good compromise, better than standard but not marine grade or marine grade cost.
