Repairing A Trampoline Net Zip

A simple repair for fixing a broken trampoline zipper

  • The purpose of a net on your trampoline is to keep your kids safe. When the kids are little you want them zipped in so you know that they are enclosed properly and are being kept safe.
  • So if a zip goes on your trampoline this is what you can do to put off purchasing a new net for a little bit longer.
  • If the overall netting is still in good condition, it is a waste to have to replace it before its time is really up!
  • To do this suggested repair below, it will take you a lot less time compared to removing and re-installing the net.
  • We tried this technique on one of our older display trampolines, the end result was effective.
  • The problem we are fixing here is if the zip slider comes off the runner and the way in which to get it back on and to remain on.

Basically, we need to get the zip slider back on.

To do this, we need to be able to gain access by creating a gap at the top.

Picture 1 - Cut off the top two teeth on the right-hand side, (can be cut with side cutting pliers) and on the other side cut off the corresponding two to fourth teeth

(it is only necessary for two teeth to be cut off, but if you need more room, four will provide this).

Picture 2 Wriggle and align the zip “slider” back on.

Picture 3 Make sure the zip works like it should be by running it up and down full length (except don’t go fully to the top as it will run off again)

Picture 4 You can then use domestic needle and thread to hand sew a “buffer stop” for the zip slider to come up against (but not go past).

That should keep working for a good while and give you the peace of mind you need for knowing your kids are safe inside the netting.

If your zip won't respond to this type of repair - we are sorry. If you are handy with a sewing machine, and or budget is tight, it will be easy enough to fit a new zip to you trampoline net yourself. All the best with how you fix your zip or finding a new safety net to replace it.
