Pre Christmas Eve - Preparations for Trampoline Assembly - Archive 2

Ensure the thrills, magic & surprises of Christmas go smoothly

As parents, we love to bring the magic of Christmas to our children. We often find ourselves on Christmas Eve assembling things like bikes, sand diggers, doll prams, swing sets, cubby houses and on topic; Trampolines.

Sometimes things go well with the assembly and other times not so good. There are some things you can do early to stack as much in your favor for completing the job, resulting in being happy with your trampoline and not to have had to stay up all night to do it!

ready-for-christmasThe first recommendation is once you decide on the gift - buy it or layby it..... stocks can run short unexpectedly early of color or size you are after - we all want our first choice for our kids. (most of us, unfortunately, experience the disappointment of not getting it quite right at least once!)

If your little recipients can read; hiding can be tough! Ask neighbors, friends, or family if they can hold the trampoline boxes until Christmas Eve for you. Older neighbors love to get in on the surprise of being a part of making Christmas magical for little people! Maybe your workplace can receive it from the courier and hold it for you until Christmas?

Preparation and planning is generally a great place to start.

You will either have collected the trampoline or had it delivered.

  • Once you have the Trampoline; check your boxes for the correct labeling - box 1/3 - box 2/3 - box 3/3 and all of the same size trampolines as on your invoice.
  • Check items in boxes - this we recommend although boxes are weight checked on the assembly line random things can occasionally occur in a box - count the number of poles, legs, frame pieces, etc, check you have a manual, etc.
  • All our sizes of either the round or rectangle trampolines are in the same manual. A common call for help we get is finding people are on the wrong page - eg - someone with a 10x17ft trampoline starts on the page with the 7x10ft trampoline and they have differing parts.
  • If there is anything missing call us and items can be sent or collected and sorted well in advance of Christmas Eve.
  • Take a look at the area where you plan to assemble the trampoline. Is the ground reasonably flat? Level the area if required and look above, do any tree branches need to be cut? Easier to do that before Christmas Eve than justifying why the chainsaw is out while kids are trying to get to sleep.
  • Have a good read of the instruction manual and look at pics online. All our Trampoline Manuals if you have purchased a Vuly Trampoline you will only find instructions online they do not supply a paper manual.
  • If able we recommend booking a second able-bodied person to help and in the case of a Vuly Thunder and the 3 larger rectangle trampolines with the upper net framework - 2 strong men is honestly a better option.
  • If you plan to build the bottom half in the shed so that it is hidden for a day or 2 - be sure to check the width of your roller door against the trampoline best to know for sure if the trampoline will fit out the door.... or if the net will hit the top of the roller door
  • Check lights will shine into the assembly area ok if it will be dark when you start the task.
  • Stock up on some insect repellent.
  • A 10 mm socket will come in handy in tightening up the net pole bolts, a file could be handy on occasion for occasional metal burrs but no other tools needed.
  • If you are a little vertically challenged having a ladder might also be helpful.
  • We recommend you minimize squeaks from your trampoline by having some lubricant handy to lubricate the joints before joining frame pieces.
  • On rare occasions a rubber mallet or file can come in handy for some gentle "persuasion" Absolute last resort ok; check instructions and layout first! and then again to be sure...

Christmas Eve - Or on the day

  • Be patient
  • Allow for flexibility - back up weather options - eg - wrap boxes instead of assembling, or assemble without the net.
  • Assembler himself might too already be under the weather !!! (best to keep celebrations until assembly complete)
  • Follow instructions and keep some common sense handy for just in case.
  • We hope all goes in your favor for assembling your trampoline to a high standard that it will be used, loved and jumped on every day for many years.
  • The time it takes to assemble it properly is well worth the effort when you see how much the kids love it.
  • Although we as parents have a vision of how Christmas will be with the "main" gift assembled if there are unfortunate reasons it doesn't all come together. The kids will still have a great Christmas and will be a lot less disappointed than their parents!

We check emails , and voicemails regularly on Christmas Eve and over Christmas and are always closed for the Christmas and Boxing Day national scheduled holidays. This year we will reopen on Friday 27th, 2019. 9am
